Our backyard is unlike any other. Our ruggedly beautiful grounds, sweeping views of the mountains, and lake make your stay here unforgettable.
Goldeye Lake
The lake provides many fun activities, including swimming, canoeing, and paddle boating. Canoes and paddle boats must be booked in advance. We provide life jackets. You are also welcome to bring your fishing gear (and fishing license) and try to catch some of the lake’s many rainbow trout. Fishing licenses are available just down the road in Nordegg if you are in need. Ice fishing is also permitted in the winter months; bring your own auger and fishing supplies.
Hiking Trails
Take in the natural beauty of the Goldeye area by taking on one of the many hiking trails in the area. There are plenty of hiking trails around the lake, as well as areas for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the winter. Please note that not all of these areas fall within Goldeye property. Many more trail options throughout the David Thompson corridor can be found on Where the Adventure Begins website.
Bighorn Backcountry
Alberta’s Bighorn Backcountry is an area including more than 5000 square kilometres (1.2 million acres) of public lands east of the Banff and Jasper National Parks. For further information about trails and use of public zones reference Alberta Environment and Parks; there are downloadable PDF’s available. All use of these spaces is administered under the authority of Alberta’s Forests Act and activities allowed in each area can vary greatly depending on local conditions.
